What's Going on in 4R?

This week we are wrapping up our unit on making connections in Reading.  We will be studying Terry Fox and writing about our own heroes.  We will also be writing paragraphs about one of our classmates and finishing up our CASI assessments.  We have started our guided reading groups and we are also studying the elements of a story

In Math we are working on multiplication this week.  Practicing this at home is so important.  Even spending ten minutes with your child practicing just the facts will make a difference.

Friday is the Terry Fox walk!  Please send in a toonie for Terry if possible.

4R Update

We are having a blast in 4R!

This week we celebrated mass together and the kids were wonderful.  We also went on a walk around the school looking for different habitats, and played some math "starters" together.  Our special guest Ms. Lepara even taught us pilates!

We are writing more detailed sentences and continue to make connections.  We are also celebrating the lessons St. Teresa left us in Religion class and "working out" and playing European Handball in phys-ed class.

What's Happening in 4R?

The first week back was a great success!  We had fun getting to know each other and working together as a team.

We have begun our first unit in Math, "Whole Numbers."  Please take the time to practice multiplication facts with your child nightly, it will assist them greatly throughout the unit.  This week we will be exploring comparing and ordering numbers up to 10 000 and rounding 4 digit numbers.

In Literacy we are working on making connections, writing complete sentences, and forming detailed reader responses.  We have begun independent reading, so the students must have a novel to read daily.  We have many options in our classroom library, but students are welcome to bring a novel from home.

In Science we have begun studying habitats.  We will be going on a walk around the school yard to look for different habitats this week.

In Religion we are studying St. Theresa and looking at the deeper meaning behind some of her favorite quotes.

We will begin "working out" in phys-ed class, running the beep test and going through various fitness circuits.

Below are some photos from our first week back!

Meet the Teacher

Hello parents and guardians of Gr 4R!

My name is Suzanne Reaume and I am 38 years old.  I have been teaching with the WECDSB for 15 years and I LOVE MY JOB!  There is nothing like watching a student learn and grow.  It is an honor to spend my days with these children.

I am a wife and a mother.  My husband is a carpenter and furniture repairman, and my boys are 6 and 3 years old.  I have a giant rescue dog who loves love, to eat and bask in the sunshine.

I enjoy playing sports, reading, and learning about how to be better in my role as an educator.

I truly look forward to spending this year with your child!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions!
